This shot of my friend and 2010 backpacking companion Bill Wechter, a photographer for the North County Times in San Diego, reminds of Huckleberry Finn. I took it the afternoon before or after (I can't recall) we hiked up and over Bishop Pass, 11,972 feet above sea level and probably the highest elevation I've ever climbed, since I hadn't backpacked since probably junior high school or high school.
This is a rough panorama image I made from several photographs that I took on one of my three trips to Canyon de Chelly, in northeastern Arizona. It is one of my favorite places, and I am proud to have made friends with several Navajo Indians.
